When Carolyn was a small child she was enamored with Chihuahuas. She was amazed at how small they were and how people carried them around in purses and such. She wanted one badly for years. For her eighth birthday, a friend of the family offered to give her one of her puppies, that was recently born from her Chihuahua. It was hard on Carolyn to wait the six weeks, till the puppy she chose, was ready to come home with us. We went to visit it regularly untill it was old enough.
On the day that Princess was delivered to our home, we were surprised to be gifted a sister to Princess as well. Roo Baby. Roo Baby became Zeke's companion dog.
Carolyn did a great job and was ready for the responsibility of raising and potty training a puppy.
She would get up many times in the middle of the night, when the puppy cried, to take it out to potty without complaint. She would clean up accidents and have puppy play times, before bedtime, to wear them out before bed, so they would sleep thru the night. Even though it was a lot of work for a little girl, she loved it.
I spent a lot of time with Roo potty training her. Carolyn helped me with Roo as well, as Zeke was to young to do it.
Carolyn loves to mother things and Princess and Carolyn became inseparable and very bonded together.
Princess became Carolyn's best friend.
She was a therapy dog and companion dog.
She was a great emotional support to help Carolyn with her anxiety and insecurity issues.
When Carolyn was at home, they were always together.
I know most people don't allow dogs at the table but often my children eat with their dogs on their lap or next to them.
She was one of the best dogs we have ever had in our home. If Carolyn was doing school work they were together.
If Carolyn had a task to do, she would set Princess on a stool or chair close by, so they could still be together.
Princess had been looking older and grey in the face the last year or so. She had lost a few teeth too but we never thought we would loose her so soon.
Carolyn was just devastated and grieving badly. After the second day of seeing her struggling to get through every moment... Tim and I decided to go ahead and get her a puppy. I know there is no way to ever replace a person or pet in our lives but she could not even sleep. It was a good decision and has kept her very busy with potty training and the business of puppy hood. She still cries and is missing Princess terribly but her arms are full again and she can sleep. She named her Bella.

Chihuahuas are not my favorite dog breed. They are commonly a bit to barky and possessive of their owners for me but they are Carolyn's favorite kind of dog, so that is what we got. Bella is a rescue and a chihuahua mix of some sort. Princess was very sweet and calm and Bella seems to be too. Wonderful lap dogs and I pray Bella lives a very long life to share with my sweet Carolyn.
We love you Carolyn and pray you learn to remember Princess with joy and feel comfort in Bella.
Luke 12:6-10 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

I'm so sorry Carolyn. :( What a hard time you must be going through. We'll be praying for your heart. I'm so glad you have Bella now... I'm sure you will discover that she has some special little traits about her that will make you love her in your own special way. Take care.... Thank you for sharing the sweet pictures of Carolyn with Princess as they were growing up together. They are priceless!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn said to say Thank you. The new puppy is helping but she is still teary eyed and crying a bit off and on. I totally understand what she is feeling and going thru. Bless her heart. I enjoyed going thru the old pictures and seeing Princess and Carolyn so happy together. It made my heart smile. Blessings.

ReplyDelete((((HUGS)))) Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear about Princess passing. I like to think she's saying "Hello" to my big boy Snow I lost in November. Snow loved all dogs! Your new puppy is adorable!
Susan these pictures are wonderful! Thank You for sharing!! You know how I love dogs!! I'm not a Chihauha person either, but I can sure see why people love them! Little dogs with giant hearts!
(((HUGS))) and prayers to all!
Thank you Elizabeth. Carolyn is doing a bit better this week. Still quiet, deep in thought and teary but not crying like she was. I know it will take time. They were very close and was in Carolyn's arms for most of her childhood. The more I keep Carolyn busy the better she does right now. She and Bella are doing wonderful together and I can see will be fast friends. I enjoyed going thru old photos to find the right ones to post. There were just so many as they were always together when home. It warmed my heart and made me realize how much I appreciated Princesses role in our family. Blessings to you all.
